As you may have noticed, Kelly Clarkson has been”suffering” a dramatic drop in creativity when it comes to her songwriting (not that she’s really complaining) and has also been flaunting her new, slimmer bod lately.
And according to the “American Idol” winner herself, it’s all thanks to her fiance, Brandon Blackstock.
She told the February issue of Cosmopolitan about her shocking 30-pound weight loss:
“I think that happens when you fall in love or date someone.”
“If I’m going to be messing around, I gotta look good.”
And she didn’t do it with the help of a “fad diet”! Kelly shared her secrets:
“I was working with a trainer, and she said, ‘You’d be amazed the amount of weight you can drop by halving your portions. I know it sounds crazy, but do it for two weeks and watch what happens.’ I just cut back my portions, I stopped eating late at night, and I work out a little more than I used to, and I literally dropped 18 pounds in a month.”
She proudly showed off the results last June on the cover of Us Weekly:
But, for Kelly, maintenance is just as important in her diet. She continued:
“I think [weight loss] happens when you get really busy. But when I’m on my off-time — girl, those 18 might come back!”
Now Kelly may be reveling in her recent weight loss success, but she defends her fuller bod that we’ve previously gotten used to and promised that she is “not willing” to go crazy with her diet.
“I’m willing to work a little bit because I want to be a healthy individual — which I always have been. I’ve put on weight, but that’s just what I’m happy with at that moment.”
It also helps that her fiance is a bit of a health buff and likes to get fit, too. Kelly revealed:
“Brandon and I both have bikes on the back of the bus, and we both love the outdoors. Once your lifestyle becomes more active, obviously you drop weight.”
