Zeta-Jones has been photographed for the first time since news of the split at their family home in Bedford, New York.
The couple, who got married in 2000 and later welcomed children, 13-year-old Dylan and 10-year-old Carys, bought the idyllic estate in 2010 as a quiet retreat just one hour outside New York City.
Now, it seems, with Douglas staying at a separate bachelor pad nearby and spending more time in the city, the Chicago star, 43, is making suburban life more permanent after she was spotted in horse-riding clothes and dark sunglasses just outside her front door Wednesday.
Now, Celebuzz, can take you inside the home where Zeta-Jones is moving on with her life without Douglas.
Known as Guard Hill Manor, the longtime couple bought the exclusive 5-acre estate for over $5 million.
Built in 1938, the classic Colonial boasts 5 bedrooms and 6 baths and is surrounded on 3 sides by Bedford’s preeminent horse farm. The 6,300 square-foot home has all the original details of the 1930s, including finely crafted moldings, rich hardwood floors and 5 rustic fireplaces. While the grounds are highlighted by a sparkling pool, separate caretaker’s cottage and serene views, where Zeta-Jones “keeps to herself” playing golf and riding horses, according to E!.
Over the years, the notoriously private couple has been open about their share of ups and downs, including Douglas’s battle with throat cancer and Zeta-Jones’s struggles with bipolar II disorder.
Although “the stress has taken a toll on their marriage,” a source told PEOPLE, the decision to spend time apart wasn’t about just one thing.
“It’s just happened naturally. They like different things,” a source told E!. “He likes the city, he only moved [to the suburbs] for her, as she loves horses and playing golf.”
Other celebs that Zeta-Jones calls her neighbors in the enclave include Richard Gere and Martha Stewart.
