The sideshow of the Capital One Cup quarter-finals have been played out and it is once more time to refocus our attention on the Premier League as the relentless Christmas schedule kicks into another gear.

And we have some enticing looking ties coming up, with Liverpool playing host to Cardiff in Saturday’s early kick-off, before Newcastle travel to Crystal Palace, Fulham entertain Man City, United take on West Ham, Stoke meet Villa, Norwich visit Sunderland and West Brom face Hull.

There’s very little respite because on Sunday, still-managerless Tottenham Hotspur will try to stop the rot against Southampton before Everton travel to Wales to take on Swansea.

And then, last but not least, on Monday, Arsenal clash with Chelsea, as Arsene Wenger’s men look to avoid a third-straight defeat in all competitions. There’s barely any time to breathe.

Of course, all of these matches will have a direct impact on our WhatCulture! Fantasy Football league, which recommences this weekend, transfers being able to be made up until 11.30am Saturday.

Nile Smith and his ‘Indy Liverbirds’ sits top of the tree during the festive run-in, with an impressive 1,076 points. But can YOU catch him?

Here, we run through 5 Essential Transfers For Gameweek 16 that could help you do just that.
