Liverpool Transfers: 5 Marquee Signings Brendan Rodgers Could Make This Summer

Rodgers

Out of all the 20 Premier League clubs this summer, Liverpool have been the busiest in the transfer window so far.

Four players have joined the Anfield outfit recently – Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, Manchester City defender Kolo Toure, Celta Vigo forward Iago Aspas and Barcelona B midfielder Luis Alberto.

But manager Brendan Rodgers does not intend to stop his spending there. Yesterday, the Northern Irishman stated:

“We’ve improved the squad – now we must improve the team.”

To achieve said feat, the ex-Swansea boss wants to make some “marquee signings” this summer, in order to boost his side’s chances of qualifying for Europe next season.

The signings the 40-year-old has made so far vary from the experienced to the unknown. Toure and Mignolet will undoubtedly help bolster the Red’s defence but Aspas and Alberto still have much to prove, and only time will tell if they prove to be wise acquisitions.

Rodgers is long enough in the tooth to know his side still need an injection of proven, world class quality if they are to improve on last season’s disappointing 7th placed finish, particularly if star striker Luis Suarez quits.

Here then, What Culture! takes a look at 5 Marquee Signings Brendan Rodgers Could Make This Summer.
