One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson Signs with Hometown Soccer Club

Cue the soccer field screams, because it looks like Louis Tomlinson will be suiting up for the Doncaster Rovers in the not too distant future.

His hometown club announced on Thursday that the One Direction heartthrob has signed with the team as a non-contract player for the 2013/14 season.

“This has always been a childhood dream for me,” Tomlinson, 21, said of his new gig. “I feel very honored to have been asked to sign for rovers and being able to help both the club and the amazing charity Bluebell Wood is what it’s all about.”

Bluebell Wood is a children’s hospice that offers care and support to children with a shortened life expectancy, both in their homes and at the hospice in North Anston in South Yorkshire, England, according to the hospice’s website.

It might be a bit of a task for Tomlinson to squeeze a couple soccer matches into his already busy tour schedule. To top that off, earlier this summer, 1D announced dates for their 2014 “Where We Are” stadium tour, set to kick off next April in Bogota, Colombia.

The boys are in the middle of the North American leg of their “Take Me Home” tour, which will hit Las Vegas with a doubleheader this weekend. The “Best Song Ever” crooners will kick off the fall with dates in Australia and New Zealand.

Tomlinson will don the no. 28 shirt for the Rovers.
